Do I need a licensed cabler for office data cabling in Queensland?

Yes. Any fixed cabling connected to the telecommunications network in Australia must be installed by an ACMA-registered cabler. Active Voice and Data Services holds Open Cabler registration and installs to Australian Standards.

What areas do you service?

We’re based in Bungalow, Cairns, and service Cairns and all of Far North Queensland. (We don’t cover Townsville — that’s North Queensland, outside our area.)

Are you certified installers?

Yes — we’re certified Molex and Commscope installers, which lets us register a 25-year warranty on structured cabling. Our lead technician holds an ACMA Open Cabler Registration and a Certificate III in Telecommunications Services.

What’s the difference between Cat6 and Cat6A cabling?

Both support Gigabit Ethernet, but Cat6A is built for reliable 10-Gigabit runs up to 100 metres and is the better choice for future-proofing a commercial network. We help you pick based on your site and budget.

Do you test and certify fibre installations?

Yes. We test fibre to both OLTS (Tier 1) and OTDR (Tier 2) standards, which is what’s required for manufacturer warranty registration and for airport and government projects.

Can you integrate CCTV, access control and alarms into one system?

Yes. We integrate CCTV, Inner Range Inception access control, and intercom into a single manageable platform so you’re not juggling separate systems.

Do you work with both businesses and homeowners?

Yes. We handle everything from single-home CCTV and phone points up to large commercial and industrial cabling, security and communications projects.

How long has Active Voice and Data Services been operating?

Since 2003 — over 20 years serving Cairns and Far North Queensland. The business was founded in 2003 and has been under current ownership since 2020, when Managing Director Alexander Zipichev took over and upgraded its services.
